South Australian Police Officer of the Year Award
This annual award seeks to highlight the service provided to our community
by the South Australia Police and recognises outstanding acts of courtesy,
courage, kindness, understanding, compassion and devotion to duty by
any member of SAPOL. Each year's winner is chosen by the club from nominations
received from individuals and groups in the community. This prestigious
award is presented at a public ceremony held in Rundle Mall, Adelaide.
In 2003 the Club celebrated the 25th year of the presentation of the
SA Police Officer of the
Year Award.
Vocational Visits
Several times each year the members of the Club make a visit to workplaces
to gain an appreciation and understanding of occupations pursued in
different industries, professions, trades and government services. In
addition to enhancing members' knowledge of various vocations, the visits
serve to enhance the importance of respecting occupation as a means
of contributing to the welfare, prosperity ad diversity of our community.
OSSAA
The Overseas
Specialist Surgical Association of Australia project
has been a major focus for our Club. For many years the
Club has supported the work of a team of Australian surgeons
and medical staff who have volunteered their time and skills
to perform much needed surgical operations for underprivileged
people in Timor and eastern parts of Indonesia.
